Marc Sinan

2021
As part of “Kein Schlussstrich! – A Nationwide Theater Project on the NSU Complex,” musician and composer Marc Sinan was commissioned to compose an oratorio that, drawing on the actions of the National Socialist Underground (NSU) and, through the unifying element of music, creates a collective experience that pursues the utopia of a contemporary humanistic coexistence.
The oratorio consists of eight individual parts, which will be performed in fourteen cities across Germany over the course of two weeks and, on three dates, will be connected via video transmissions to form a trans-spatial total work of art. The individual parts are concerts or performances with a highly participatory character. Among others, numerous amateur singers, children, and young people, as well as professional and renowned musicians and orchestras, will perform. The performances will take place at locations associated with the crimes of the so-called NSU or other racist and discriminatory acts. In addition to the performances in Chemnitz, Dortmund, Eisenach, Hamburg, Heilbronn, Jena, Kassel, Cologne, Munich, Nuremberg, Plauen, Rostock, Rudolstadt, and Zwickau, all sub-projects will be available to watch via livestream.
As artistic production manager for “MANİFEST(O),” I was responsible for the entire production process and coordinated arrangements with theaters and cultural institutions in all cities, as well as with technical service providers, the artists, and other stakeholders.
