In “Daddy Shot My Rabbit,” choreographer Chris Jäger, together with the dancers, explores the effects of trauma on the body and its natural coping mechanisms. Neurogenic tremors are an example of an immediate physiological response that promotes spontaneous recovery from a shocking event and can subsequently serve as a therapeutic measure for those affected. However, if the trauma becomes entrenched, it can lead to long-lasting behavioral changes that also affect subsequent generations. This makes it all the more important to address emotional wounds transparently in order to minimize their effects. The piece focuses on mental health, as those affected should be able to address their emotional wounds openly and without stigma.
